During a pandemic outbreak, a peace-loving man is forced on a desperate journey to find life-saving drugs for his wife but to get them he must first help an ornery old man defend his cabin against nefarious forces.

Northspur originated as an idea from director Aaron Falvey about the violent and lawless aftermath of an EMP attack where a husband and wife had managed to carve out a hidden idyllic existence for themselves up a remote valley. Aaron worked with writer Justin Eade to develop this into a first draft feature script in the winter of 2017. Over two years, 32 drafts and countless messages later in the development process, Northspur was put into production in November 2019, after backing from some generous local investors in the Top of the South. The finance allowed the producers to hire top crew members from Wellington and Auckland, along with great cameras and lighting, and also some highly skilled professional actors from outside the region. Working with some of the best of our local Top of the South crew and actors, we were able to combine during a sometimes frenetic 24 day period to achieve amazing results on film. With two more ‘pickup’ days being undertaken over summer, the production phase is now complete and we have moved into post-production. We hope to have the movie finished and ready for distribution by June or July 2020.
